This three-hour set is a deep dive into the records and sounds that have stayed with me. It starts somewhere warm and hazy, with a jazz flair, Detroit flavours and deep house woven together, before the groove begins to loosen up and the energy starts to rise. US garage and raw and jackin’ house rhythms intertwine with soulful vocals, gradually pulling the room further in, with each record adding another layer without ever forcing the pace.
As the set unfolds, the feeling changes. There’s a real push and pull between tenderness and grit, moments that feel euphoric sitting alongside records that feel dark, dusty and almost a little dangerous.
The final stretch strips things back again, moving through deeper, tougher club music before arriving at DJ Rolando’s Knights of the Jaguar. After three hours of digging through house, garage, soul, Detroit and everything in between, it felt like the right place to leave it.
